 Leadership curriculum

Leadership curriculum is a whole school transformation process. It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. The learning objective include team work, trust, communication and self-awareness.

Anyone can be a leader and the world definitely needs lots more good leaders! What is leadership? It is all around you and shows up in many ways.  Leadership is…
  • Doing the right thing without being asked or when no one is watching
  • Helping others in need
  • Guiding others on the right path
  • Setting a good examples for others and being a good role model
  • Stand up for others even when it may be the hard thing to do
Leadership is one of the most important skills you can learn to be the best person you can be and make the world a better place.  The great thing is, you have the opportunity to practice leadership every single day in your home, at school, in sports and everywhere in between. Good leaders are not bossy and loud.  They are:
  • Good at listening
  • Proactive
  • Honest
  • Generous
  • Strong communicators
  • Confident
  • Fair
  • In control of themselves

14 Inspiring Speeches By Indians

'I Leds'                               The Leadership Summit

In your classes, discuss about ‘I Leds’ and various experiences they have gone through which have helped them transform themselves as unique individuals.

‘I Leds’ will be based on their own life experiences. It can be a life changing experience, a problem that they saw as an obstruction but however overcame it diligently. It can also be an overarching goal they have set for themselves and how they plan to achieve the same. Learners, however, have to keep in mind that they have to be based on real life experiences. The ‘I Led’ talk has to be a 2 minute talk. Please give students time to start working on their I-Led speeches.

Three students per section can be chosen to present the I-Led. Please also make a short video ( 30 secs) of all other children which can be played on the screen during the summit.

Approach

The leadership journey has to start with the individual; beginning with self-awareness and a positive attitude. The leadership credo is simple: lead yourself first, then others. Consequently, there is a greater emphasis on:
  • The quest for a higher purpose and giving meaning to life
  • Experiential learning through reflection, balanced work-life relations, and shifting the responsibility for learning from the organization to the individual
  • Setting long-term vision and goals
  • Creativity and the ability to live with adversities
